Salt Lake City, United States – October 8, 2023 – Independent developer Lotus Mountain Creative is excited to announce its first title, Narcalid. Lose yourself with up to three friends as you peacefully explore the New World, decipher new abilities, encounter out-of-this-world creatures, and harness the power of meditation.Watch the trailer below.
After their spacecraft has been sabotaged by a mysterious entity, four ambassadors find themselves on a mysterious new planet. Each wields a unique tool, from platform-moving beams to particles that can manipulate organic life. The ambassadors will work together to traverse the New World, from exploring mysterious ruins to trudging through the ooze-infested jungles.
Narcalid can be played solo, with the ability to seamlessly switch between each of the four ambassadors on the fly. Alternatively, you can invite up to three friends to join you on your adventure, each taking up the role of one of the different playable characters.
Peaceful exploration is favored over precision gameplay in Narcalid, rewarding players for exploring every nook and cranny in the curious environments of the New World. Delving deeper into the mysterious offerings of the different biomes will unravel new secrets, technologies, and real-life meditation techniques for you to wield.
In traditional Medroidvania fashion, discovering new abilities will open doorways that were previously locked. Where Narcalid differs from traditional a Metroidvania is in what lies behind these doorways. Not only will you discover titanous beasts to befriend or overcome, but also new meditation techniques to help you harness the power of nature. The question is, can you harness enough power to stop the Narcalid Mother before she becomes too powerful?
