PHILADELPHIA – November 3, 2023 – GameChops and artist Funk Fiction are pleased to present Sonic & Chill, a love letter to the Sonic the Hedgehog series that has been years in the making. GameChops is known worldwide for its fan-favorite "& Chill" album series, featuring gaming's biggest franchises remixed to chill, relax, and study to. Funk Fiction is a composer (No Straight Roads, Omega Strikers, Cytus II) and producer known for his meticulous attention in crafting electronic atmospheres infused with elements of funk, hip hop, and more. Sonic & Chill features 14 tracks from across the franchise's history, with classics such as "Marble Zone" and "Chemical Plant Zone," among others. The launch trailer can be enjoyed above, and the album is out on all digital storefronts and streaming platforms today with a physical vinyl edition to be available in the coming months:

"Sonic & Chill is my love letter to Sonic, Sega, and Sonic fans," notes Funk Fiction. "The very first melodies I ever hummed were 'Marble Zone' and 'Green Hill Zone,' and since then Sonic music has played an integral role in shaping my musical identity. In order to reimagine the higher energy sound of the originals into a more chill style, I drew inspiration from Jamiroquai, Sade, Yuzo Koshiro, Michael Jackson, west coast hip-hop, bossa nova, new jack swing, '80s and '90s RnB, soul, city pop, acid and smooth jazz, disco and classic house, and '90s dance. These diverse influences coalesced into an overall sound throughout the album that could be described as 'HiFi Vapor.' Sonic & Chill has truly been a passion project and it brings me great joy to present what is my tribute to the legacy of Sonic music and its composers."
